Ric Flair Among Former Royal Rumble Winners Considered For WWE Return

Ric Flair, the legendary two-time WWE Hall of Famer, could soon make a return to the promotion’s programming.

According to a report by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE is discussing the possibility of bringing in past Royal Rumble winners for the upcoming Royal Rumble premium live event, and Flair is among the names being considered. Another former winner under consideration is “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan.

Duggan made history by winning the first Royal Rumble match in 1988, while Flair’s victory in the 1992 Royal Rumble, where he captured the WWE Championship, remains one of the most celebrated moments in the company’s history. The 1992 Rumble is widely regarded as one of the greatest editions of the match ever.

Flair’s last appearance for the company was in the summer of 2021, after which he parted ways with the company. Since then, Flair has made appearances for AEW as part of Sting’s retirement tour. However, his tenure with AEW concluded after their 2024 Revolution event. Plans for Flair to make a cameo at AEW’s Collision taping in Charlotte, North Carolina, were ultimately scrapped.

As preparations are underway for the Royal Rumble, set to take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, on February 1st, fans are eager to see if Flair will once again grace the promotions stage.
