On November 22nd it was revealed that Aaron Dean Eisenberg will be playing the role of Ric Flair in the upcoming Von Erich family biopic ‘The Iron Claw.’ It has been reported that Flair’s character will be little more than a cameo despite the Nature Boy famously defeating Kerry Von Erich to win the NWA World Championship back in 1984.
Speaking on a recent edition of his To Be The Man podcast, Ric Flair commented on the man set to play him, as well as the move itself.
Ric Flair Admits He “Doesn’t Know Much About” Aaron Dean Eisenberg
Flair revealed that the production team behind the film reached out to him so that he could speak to Eisenberg, but it didn’t quite come together. With regard to the movie, Flair said that it will be “one of the greatest stories ever told in wrestling history.”
“I don’t know much about him, but I know they called me to talk to him on the phone and I was traveling and never got to talk to him, so I haven’t met and I haven’t talked to him.
“But I’ll tell you this, if they do an accurate depiction of what the Von Erich family went through, this is going to be one of the greatest stories ever told in wrestling history because there was so much damn history with that family.”
‘The Iron Claw’ will depict the sad story of the famed Von Erich family. Famously, Kerry, Mike, and Chris Von Erich all tragically took their own lives following the sudden passing of David Von Erich. Fritz Von Erich, who passed away from brain and lung cancer, was the promoter of the acclaimed World Class Championship Wrestling organisation.
Kevin Von Erich is the last surviving son of Fritz and was on hand to accept the family’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2009. His sons, Ross and Marshall, have continued the Von Erich legacy, having competed for Major League Wrestling and won their World Tag Team Championships.
