While Becky Lynch is not only one of the biggest stars in the women’s division but WWE as a whole, 2022 has seen the rise of Rhea Ripley.
Ripley has been pegged as a star of the future for a number of years going back to her days in NXT, but the future might now have arrived. Since becoming part of Judgment Day, the Australian star has seen her stock rise to an all-time high. Her work as the enforcer for the group has earned her comparisons with Chyna, and her partnership with Dominik Mysterio has become must-see television.
Rhea Ripley Promises To Take Down Becky Lynch
Despite her success, Rhea Ripley has rarely been featured in the women’s division, at least in part due to an injury which left her unable to wrestle. However, the star did team with Damage CTRL and Nikki Cross inside WarGames in defeat to Bianca Belair, Becky Lynch, Asuka, Alexa Bliss and Mia Yim. One segment of the match that caught the attention of fans was a short interaction between Ripley and Lynch.
The women have only squared off once in singles action on television, and that bout came in 2019 during an episode of NXT. On that occasion the match ended in a No Contest after interference from Shayna Baszler and others.
Speaking during an appearance on The Bump, Ripley said that she’s looking forward to facing Lynch once again.
“I’m really looking forward to it. Becky is someone that I had a match with in NXT, and it didn’t finish with a conclusion. It finished with Shayna and the girls coming out and ruining that match for me. She’s always been someone that I feel I could like a televised match with and it’d be competitive. So every time I get to step in the ring, I’m looking forward to it, and I want that one on one interaction. I want that match. I’m hoping that one day, it will happen, and ‘Mami’ is gonna put ‘The Man’ down.”
During a separate interview Ripley recently talked up her rivalry with Bianca Belair, commenting that the pair want to be the next “Steve Austin and The Rock.”
