Rhea Ripley Wins Rare Intergender Match On WWE Raw

The December 19th episode of WWE Raw was full of surprises, and Rhea Ripley taking part in a rare intergender match was certainly unexpected.

The first match on the show saw The Street Profits take on Damian Priest and Finn Balor of The Judgment Day. Akira Tozawa, who has found himself in an alliance with The Street Profits in recent weeks, was ringside, and near the end of the match, he threw a beverage in the face of Dominik Mysterio, whose vision is already compromised after Asuka spit mist in his face last week. The ringside distraction allowed Montez Ford to pick up the pinfall victory for his team

Enraged, Rhea Ripley punched Akira Tozawa in the face and challenged him to a match in order to get retribution for her fellow Judgment Day teammates.

While it comes as no surprise that Rhea Ripley is a dominant force, WWE are hesitant to put on intergender matches due to agreements between themselves and advertising sponsors. Therefore, fans were left wondering if the match would actually take place as the program went to an ad break.

Rhea Ripley Defeated Akira Tozawa On WWE Raw

When WWE Raw returned from its commercial break, Ripley and Tozawa were indeed facing off in singles action. Ripley was dominant throughout most of the bout, though at one point it appeared Tozawa may triumph when he moved out of the way, causing Ripley to hit the ring post.

However, in the end, Rhea Ripley was able to put away Tozawa with the Riptide as commentary yelled about the fact that she’d just defeated a fully grown man. The Judgment Day celebrated Ripley’s victory in the ring after the bout.

Elsewhere on the program, The Bloodline went on a rampage, attacking multiple WWE Superstars backstage. One of those wrestlers was WWE NXT star Andre Chase, who was in Des Moines, IA to wrestle on WWE Main Event. Full results from the December 19th episode of WWE Raw can be found here.
