Rhea Ripley To Defend SmackDown Women’s Title At WWE Backlash

Rhea Ripley

It has been announced that Rhea Ripley will be back in action for the first time since WrestleMania 39 at Backlash.

Shortly before WrestleMania Rey Mysterio reformed the Latino World Order, recruiting Legado Del Fantasma. This placed the group immediately into a rivalry with Judgment Day due to Mysterio’s long-running feud with his son Dominik.

Following WrestleMania the problems between the two factions have continued with various members meeting in the ring. This theme continued on the April 21st edition of SmackDown as Finn Balor and Damian Priest teamed up to defeat Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar.

After the match, Zelina Vega met with Adam Pearce to make her pitch to face Judgment Day star Rhea Ripley at Backlash. Vega explained how much the match would mean to her, especially as the event is being held in Puerto Rico. Pearce ended the segment by saying that he would get back to her before the match was confirmed later in the show.

Also on SmackDown, it was announced that Omos will take on Seth Rollins for reasons unknown, and Austin Theory will defend his United States Title against Bobby Lashley and Bronson Reed.
