Rhea Ripley teases a potential romantic angle that could be done somewhere in the future in the WWE.
Whether she is a face or a heel, The Eradicator was always shown as a tough, no-nonsense character. However, we got to see a different side of her when she started an angle with Dominik Mysterio.
Rhea Ripley’s relationship with Dirty Dom was one of the cornerstones for Judgment Day’s success and also led to the popularity of her “Mami” character.
While the relationship with Dom ended, fans have been keen to see Ripley in a romantic angle, which was a point of discussion in a recent interview with Alleownz Wrasslin, where the host asked if there was any chance we could see a similar angle play out in the future.
Rhea Ripley commented that if she were asked this before, she would deny it, but seeing the success of the story with Dom makes her think that there are possibilities of a romantic storyline in the future.
She then goes on to say that it could happen if her husband, AEW star Buddy Matthews, returns to the WWE. She adds that she doubts she could have the chemistry she had with Dom with anyone besides her husband. She said:
“It’s hard to really tell, because like if you asked me beforehand, I would have said that it would have never happened in the first place, but then there we were, me and Dom together, you know? So, it’s like it’s hard to tell what the future holds. And like there’s just so many possibilities that could potentially happen. Like, I don’t know if my husband will ever come back. I don’t know if he if he does come back, then we could do something on TV. I don’t know. Anything could really happen.
But like just to see like Rhea the brute that she is in a relationship with Dominik Mysterio out of all people and have that dynamic where like I’m the muscle but he’s like sneaky and it’s just like I don’t know. We bounce off each other so well. I don’t know if I want to try and recreate that at all with anyone else or if that was like my one and done because that was just something that came together so organically that I don’t think I can create with someone that isn’t my husband.”
Rhea Ripley Shares What Buddy Matthews’ Support Means To Her
Elsewhere in the interview, Rhea Ripley is asked what Buddy Matthews’ support means to her. She responded by saying that it is very important to her.
She explains that she is lucky to have a partner who understands the ups and downs of the business, and that she feels great coming back home to him after spending a long time on the road. Rhea Ripley’s response was as follows:
“It’s needed. It’s very much needed. This is such a wild, strange, weird business, and a lot of people don’t understand it. So, to be able to find a spouse that like actually understands everything that you’re going through and isn’t going to judge you or get mad for like you not being able to respond on a work day, like that’s stuff that is like so crucial to me and beneficial because like I don’t have to explain myself.
I don’t have to stress that I haven’t messaged him back or I haven’t called him back because he understands what a normal Monday night is for me, because Mondays are just so stressful.
It’s back to back to back random stuff like all day. Like I’ll have make-a-wishes, I’ll have like media stuff, and I’ll have to do hair and makeup, and understand what is happening for TV that night and change things or plan for things, and it’s just like so much that goes into a normal TV day, let alone a PLE. So, like to have him there in my corner supporting me every step of the way, I don’t think I could do it without him now.
Like, I’ve got so used to him being there, that like when I look back before I had him, I was like, how did I ever like survive in this? Because like he’s my rock. He’s my everything, and coming home to him after a busy day or a busy week or a busy couple [of] weeks, months at work, it definitely feels like it chews me out, which I need.”
