WWE fans can anticipate the imminent return of Rey Mysterio to the ring following his recovery from a knee operation. Mysterio, who was temporarily written off WWE TV on the November 10th episode of SmackDown to undergo surgery and recuperate from a knee injury attributed to years of wear and tear, is on the brink of making his comeback to the WWE.
According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer indicated that Mysterio’s return to the WWE appears to be on the horizon in the coming weeks. Meltzer’s report stated:
Rey Mysterio’s return now looks to be in a few weeks. He was hoping for late January but is pretty close to being ready to return.
Did Rey Mysterio Sign A New Deal With WWE Recently?
According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio, Rey Mysterio recently signed a long-term deal with WWE. While Meltzer wasn’t exactly sure of the length of the new contract he did speculate that it could be a five-year deal which would mean Mysterio would be a contracted performer until he is 54 years old Meltzer noted that WWE would not have entertained the idea of signing a performer of that age years ago.
Meltzer went on to say that he is certain that the new deal would mean a huge payday for Mysterio as he also received a large amount for his initial short-term deal with WWE when he first returned to the company.
