Rey Mysterio has spoken about how special it would have been for him to see Eddie Guerrero and Dominik share the ring.
Back in 2005, Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero were in a highly personal feud that ended up involving Rey’s then 8-year-old son, Dominik. Guerrero claimed that he was Dominik’s biological father, and the two fought over custody of the future Judgment Day star in a now-infamous Ladder Match.
While he won the bout and custody of his son, recent events have seen Dominik turn on his father, leading to Rey Mysterio wishing Eddie Guerrero had defeated him.
Looking back on the rivalry during an appearance on Cheap Heat, Mysterio said it was a cool part of his and Domink’s lives.
“It was such a cool moment. Such a cool phase of our lives, I should say, because not only mine, I know even though Dom was young, to be able to be in that position, and at his age, absorb everything that happened. Not only that night, but the months prior to that, him being part of the story, major part of the story and the connection that he had with Eddie as well.”
Now, he wishes that Guerrero was able to see how far Dominik has come, and would have liked to have seen the two of them share the ring.
“The one thing I wish it would have happened and this would have changed the dynamic incredibly. If Eddie would still be here and just to see Dom and Eddie in the ring that would have been…that’s one of those dreams, that it’s never gonna happen, but I wish…that would have been a big opportunity for me to just witness.”
Mysterio often finds himself thinking about the scenarios he could have got into with Guerrero and Dominik, and believes that someday in the heavens, they might be able to have a special match for God.
“I’ve had moments where I just overthink scenarios if Eddie would still be here. My mind just goes crazy. Just thinking about all the things we could have done, Eddie and Dom with me involved. It just, it would have been such an incredible time. It’s unfortunate that we will never experience that. But maybe in the heavens, when we’re all up there. We can do a special match for God.”
Rey Mysterio Outlines “Perfect Scenario” For Dominik Mysterio Feud
With his career coming closer to an end, Rey Mysterio has outlined a “perfect scenario” for where his feud with Dominik could go. The WWE hall of Famer says that, while he doesn’t necessarily want Dirty Dom to retire him, he does want to put his mask on the line against his son.
