Rey Mysterio Relaunches Famous Faction On WWE SmackDown

Rey Mysterio

WrestleMania 39 looks set to be the biggest weekend of Rey Mysterio’s career.

The star is set to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame before taking on his son Dominik on night one of the spectacular.

The Lucha legend has been at war with Dominik and the Judgment Day for months, often fighting alone, but on Raw, he finally found some backup. After being attacked by Dominik and Damian Priest, Legado Del Fantasma ran to Rey’s rescue.

On SmackDown, Mysterio met with the group backstage, and the former NXT stars promised to have his back if Judgment Day gets involved at WrestleMania. As a thank you, Mysterio presented everyone with LWO shirts, seemingly reforming the group.

The LWO was formed in late 1998 in WCW and was led by Eddie Guerrero. The group went to war with Rey Mysterio, with the high flyer being forced to join the faction after losing out in a match with Guerero. However, their run came to a premature end as Guerrero was involved in a serious car accident in early 1999.

After SmackDown, Vickie Guerrero took to social media to praise the relaunch, commenting that Eddie would be smiling from above.

“This is amazing!!!! #LWO is back!! Brilliant…..f*cking brilliant…. @WWE Eddie is smiling from above and taking a seat in the corner of the top rope!!”

Rey Mysterio Almost Retired In 2019

Speaking in a recent interview, Rey Mysterio revealed that he considered retiring in 2019 during his feud with Samoa Joe. However, it was Dominik who talked him into continuing his career.
