Rey Mysterio is back on the brand where he made his name in WWE after striking a deal with Triple H to return to Friday Night SmackDown.
Former World Champion arrived on the October 14th edition of SmackDown with one clear objective. He wanted to quit. In a segment backstage with Triple H, Mysterio explained that he had been pushed to the limit by his son Dominik and Judgment Day on Raw.
According to the Lucha legend this left him with no choice to work away from WWE altogether. A shocked Triple H was understandably determined not to lose one of his prize assets so asked to talk with Mysterio in an effort to change his mind.
The show had actually opened with the chaotic aftermath of a car crash featuring Karrion Kross and Scarlett. As the pair attempted to gather themselves, Kross was attacked by Drew McIntyre who was out for revenge after being defeated at Extreme Rules.
The car accident and subsequent beatdown left Kross unable to compete in the main event against Ricochet, Sheamus and Solo Sikoa for a shot at the Intercontinental Championship. With those three men waiting in the win the mystery fourth competitor was revealed.
Triple H Has A Plan
As the crowd waited Rey Mysterio was introduced to the crowd as the final competitor in the match, while it was confirmed on commentary that Mysterio was now on the blue brand full-time.
It proved something of a fairy-tale return for Mysterio as in amongst a chaotic main event he emerged victorious after pinning Ricochet. However, that only told part of the story as there was interference galore from the Brawling Brutes and The Bloodline.
The show also featured the return of Bray Wyatt. A visibly emotional Wyatt delivered a heartfelt promo to fans to close the show, thanking them for saving his life.
However, in true Wyatt fashion the show went off the air in surreal fashion as he was interrupted by his mask on the big screen as the broadcast abruptly ended.
