Rey Mysterio Gives Glowing Endorsement To WWE SmackDown Star

Rey Mysterio Names His Mount Rushmore Of WWE

Rey Mysterio sees nothing but a bright future for one fellow SmackDown star.

Dragon Lee has only been a part of the WWE system since 2023, but the star has already made plenty of waves. Within his first year with the company, he was drafted to the SmackDown brand, where he loosely aligned with the LWO. He also defeated Dominik Mysterio to become NXT North American Champion at NXT Deadline in December.

Speaking in a new interview with Baker Banter, LWO leader and WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio heaped praise on Lee, likening him to a younger version of himself.

“I see a lot of a young me in Dragon Lee. He is very unique with his style. Of course, he carries a tradition of lucha libre, which is the mask. The mask represents something way beyond just putting on a mask. It transforms you. It gives you a certain power of representation to our culture, representation to our sport. Overall, he has the heart and determination to go in the ring and put it all on the line. I’ve seen that every time he steps in the ring.”

“He’s Going Very Big” – Rey Mysterio On Dragon Lee

Continuing, Mysterio made it clear that he sees Lee having a bright future in WWE. In fact, the Hall of Famer endorsed Lee as the company’s next successful luchador.

“I endorse, myself, Dragon Lee to be the next superstar within WWE that’s a luchador. It’s been quite awhile. We’ve had several luchadors in WWE that have been given opportunities, but Dragon Lee is captivating and taking full advantage of this opportunity. He already beat Dominik for the North American Title. You can already see he’s going very big.”

On the January 9th episode of NXT, Lee successfully defended his North American Championship against Lexis King. However, his title reign came to a halt when Oba Femi cashed in his NXT Breakout Tournament win to challenge Lee, successfully becoming the youngest North American Champion in the company’s history.

Lee recently took a brief hiatus from WWE due to visa issues.
