The issues between Rey Mysterio and his, son Dominik go back months.
It’s hard to believe now, but the pair initially enjoyed great success when teaming together. The duo became the first-ever father and son team to win World Tag Team Title gold. However, once Dominik had his head turned by Judgment Day, the partnership was doomed to fail.
Dominik finally turned on his father at Clash At The Castle and aligned with Rhea Ripley and Judgment Day. Over the following months, the young star has been on a mission to make Rey’s life hell. Things got so bad that the soon-to-be Hall of Famer even moved to SmackDown to get away from his son, but it still wasn’t enough.
As WrestleMania moved onto the horizon, Dominik had a new plan. He wanted to face his dad at the spectacular. This set into motion weeks of attempts to get Rey to fight him, but the Lucha Libre legend continued to resist. But that resistance was finally broken on the March 24th episode of SmackDown.
After Dominik cost Rey a match against LA Knight he again got in his dad’s face, but once again, Rey turned him down. But this time Dominik went too far. He approached his mother at ringside and began to insult her before screaming at her to shut up.
This sparked something in Rey who came back to ringside and smashed Dominik in the face before accepting the match at WrestleMania.
