Rey Mysterio has spent decades as a legendary performer in the world of wrestling, and with colorful masks and high-flying lucha libre offense, his popularity crossed over into mainstream culture.
That level of fame, however, comes with some bizarre side effects, and rumors about Mysterio’s relationship status ran rampant in the 1990’s. In fact, in 1997, it was rumored that Rey Mysterio was dating none other than Friends star Jennifer Aniston, who was at the height of her popularity playing the iconic Rachel on the long-running sitcom.
Speaking to Logan Paul on the latest edition of IMPAULSIVE, Mysterio was asked about the rumored relationship, which would have taken place after Mysterio married his wife Angie in 1996. After joking that it lasted “about a week,” the WWE Hall of Famer shot down rumors that he and Aniston had dated, saying the tabloids just “threw it out there.”
Continuing, he made it clear that he has no interest in that level of mainstream fame as he enjoys his privacy and spending time with his family.
“I like having my privacy man, and I’m very low key, you know. And when I chill with my family, I don’t like to get mugged or be signing sh*t. Like even when I vacation a lot, I get mobbed sometimes so much by the staff of the hotel, and the hotel is taking care of us, but sometimes it gets a little too much. Which I don’t mind when I’m working, but when I’m on my time off…”
Logan Paul agreed that it can be taxing to be asked for photographs by staff members when he’s just settled into a hotel room, but also admitted that’s the side effect of being famous.
Rey Mysterio Faced His Son Dominik At WrestleMania
Mysterio has been married to his wife Angie for over 20 years, and at WrestleMania 39, she and their daughter Aalyah had a front row seat to see her husband face off against her son in singles competition.
Rey and Dominik Mysterio have been at odds ever since Dominik turned on his father at Clash at the Castle, and after months of goading, Rey agreed to face his son on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Despite attempts from The Judgment Day to skew the odds in Dominik’s favor, help from both the newly re-formed lWo as well as hip hop megastar Bad Bunny helped even the score, and in the end, Rey Mysterio was victorious.
Two nights earlier, Rey Mysterio was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2023.
