Rey Mysterio has explained why he is sort of proud of Dominik Mysterio kicking his best friend Edge in the balls.
Throughout 2022, Dominik began to grow conflicted over siding with his father, largely in part due to the actions of Rhea Ripley. Frustrated with being overshadowed by Edge, Dominik finally let his feelings be known at Clash at the Castle when he delivered a low blow to The Rated R Superstar and followed up with a clothesline to his father. Despite the fact that commentary blasted Mysterio for his actions, the Hall of Famer admits that he can appreciate it led to bigger things for his son.
Speaking with The Schmo while at the NASCAR Playoffs: South Point 400, Mysterio was asked what was his “most proud dad moment” of his son’s career. The Hall of Famer responded by recalling the shocking series of events that occurred in Cardiff as it led to “Dirty” Dom creating his own legacy and having a breakout run on the main roster:
“I think the moment that he turned on myself and Edge. I think that was a very…it’s a moment that I don’t like to go back and remember, but the fact that he did what he did, he decided to take his own path, which I’m very understanding about it, but at the end of the day, don’t cross my path once again because I will whoop his ass.”
AEW Star Praises Rey Mysterio
With more than 30 years of in-ring experience, Mysterio has been wrestling longer than some of the top stars of today have been alive. Regarded as one of the greatest of all time and a pioneer of the high-flying style, the WWE Hall of Famer has been a major influence on many stars of the next generation.
