Rey Fenix Reportedly Suffering A Groin Injury, Out 6-8 Weeks

Rey Fenix

Rey Fenix of Death Triangle missed Double Or Nothing through injury, it is now being reported that the luchador is suffering a groin injury that will see him miss several weeks of action.

Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net has reported that after reaching out to AEW for an update on Fenix he was confirmed to be suffering a groin injury that will see him miss six to eight weeks of in-ring time.

Dave Meltzer had previously reported in his Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the Mexican star would be unable to compete at Double Or Nothing. The injury Fenix is suffering is reported to have stemmed from a recent match Fenix had in his native Mexico.

Had Fenix been able to compete at Double Or Nothing he would likely have been part of the giant Casino Battle Royale match alongside his brother Penta El Zero Miedo. Fenix and Penta’s other partner in Death Triangle, Pac, unsuccessfully challenged Kenny Omega in the main event for the AEW World Championship.

Penta El Zero M and Pac then teamed up on the following edition of Dynamite where they faced AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks. The Bucks were able to escape with the victory when a distraction from Brandon Cutler allowed them to roll Pac up for the win.

Rey Fenix had competed in two more matches for All Elite Wrestling since his Meltzer-rated five-star outing with Pac against The Young Bucks. He teamed with Pac, Penta, and The Sydal Brothers to defeat The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Konosuke Takeshita, and Michael Nakazawa at AEW’s first house show. Following that bout, Fenix defeated Chuck Taylor in a match that aired on AEW Dark: Elevation. His win over one-half of the Best Friends on the 21st of April was Fenix’s last bout for AEW before his reported injury.
