AEW star Rey Fenix has elaborated on his previous comments concerning his status within the company.
Fenix has hit the headlines in the past few weeks due to reports concerning his contract. Although it was suspected that Fenix and his tag team partner Penta El Zero Miedo would become free agents over the summer and likely join WWE, things were not as straightforward. While Penta is now a free agent and recently appeared at the latest AAA tapings, Fenix has had injury time added onto his contract. Due to the lengthy absence, the former Tag Team Champion may not become a free agent until autumn 2025 at the earliest.
On December 7th, Rey Fenix made numerous comments that caught the attention of fans online as he noted that he would one day have the chance to speak the truth along with the following statement:
No one stays in a place where they received inhumane treatment.
On social media, Dr. Chris Featherstone posted the following update regarding The Lucha Bros:
I received information from an AEW source on November 20 regarding the Lucha Brothers’ status, but did not report it as I was waiting for one of them to begin speaking their mind about the situation (I was told that was coming). I was also told that day that Penta’s contract was soon ending with AEW.
Rey Fenix did just that (spoke his mind), so here is some Intel I received: – “The alleged excuse that Tony Khan found out about Lucha Brothers [being] in talks with WWE is ‘fake news,’ and the real reason [will be] revealed.” – There is a “real story” behind the situation with Rey Fenix, which is a “huge injustice.” – Expect the Lucha Brothers to go more in-depth about their time in AEW when they are free and clear to do so, and “when they do, [it] is going to be ugly.”
In response to this post, Fenix posted 2 replies. Initially, Fenix stated that while he can’t elaborate further, he will when he has the opportunity:
Unfortunately, due to contractual issues i cannot speak now, but I will have my time.
so far the most accurate comment.
I needed a doctor and you ignored me for months.
When Did Rey Fenix Last Appear In AEW?
Fenix last competed back in July and defeated Tony Nese on an episode of Collision. Although Fenix remains under contract for the foreseeable future, it is unknown when or if he will appear on TV again.
While the Fenix drama continues to unfold, WWE recently teased the arrival of a former AEW star.
