Rey Fenix is finally free from AEW.
Recently, several top All Elite Wrestling stars were released from their contract. Names such as Malakai Black, Ricky Saints, Miro, and more are no longer a part of Tony Khan’s promotion. While these exits took place, reports emerged about Fenix’s departure.
After several months of a rollercoaster journey between Rey Fenix and his AEW status, the former International Champion is no longer a part of the Jacksonville-based promotion. WON’s Dave Meltzer reported that Fenix had been removed from the promotion’s website, and was seemingly released from the rest of his contract similar to Starks & Black. Meltzer also noted that he is expected to join WWE, much like his brother Penta.
“Rey Fenix was removed from the AEW web site. The belief is he was released from the rest of his contract similar to Starks & Black and will be in WWE ASAP. We had known there were talks in that direction for a few weeks.”

In an update to it, Fightful Select further confirmed Fenix’s free agency status. He is now eligible to sign anywhere but is expected to join WWE. Fightful Select also noted that Fanatics has already begun preparing merchandise for him as well as the creative team coming up with ideas. Fightful’s sources in WWE claim that he is expected to join them, and would like to join the main roster with his brother, Penta.
Fenix’s departure comes soon after a latest report about multiple exits scheduled in March. WON’s Bryan Alvarez suggested that more new departures could be announced throughout March, 2025, after the recent series of exits.
