After months of speculation, Rey Fenix is finally appearing in WWE.
Over the last year, rumors and reports have floated around regarding Fenix’s wrestling status. Long stuck in a controversial contract agreement with Tony Khan and AEW last year, the Fenix was recently released from his position at the Jacksonville-based promotion.
As rumors and teasers started appearing on SmackDown about Fenix’s appearance, recently, Fightful Select confirmed Rey Fenix’s World Wrestling Entertainment signing. Now, almost a week after the confirmation, a teaser aired on the 28th March episode of SmackDown in London, officially announcing and confirming the former AEW star’s arrival.
It also revealed Fenix’s debut date for the promotion. Rey Fenix is scheduled to appear next week on the 4th April episode of SmackDown. However, there are no confirmed updates available regarding any storylines for him ahead of WrestleMania 41.
Rey Fenix And Multiple Other AEW Stars Were Recently Released
Earlier this year, Tony Khan’s promotion released multiple stars from their roster. Alongside Fenix, former champion Malakai Black, Miro, and Ricky Saints were released. Former women’s Champion Saraya is also set to part ways with the promotion.
