Revealed: The Truth About Gunther And His Future After WWE SummerSlam Loss

WWE star Gunther

We have an update on Gunther and what lies ahead for him after his loss at WWE SummerSlam.

While The General’s showboating on Night 1 of The Biggest Party of the Summer could have led to his loss to CM Punk, he also picked up a brutal injury. Michael Cole on commentary mentioned that the former champion’s nose might have been broken.

Seeing The Ring General’s face in a crimson mask caused concern among fans about his status, but according to a report, all is not what it seems.

Gunther’s Loss At WWE SummerSlam A Cover Up For Injury As Per Report

Talking on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about the former World Heavyweight Champion’s injury.

Meltzer stated that Gunther was already planning to have a nose surgery. This was something that sources close to the company had shared with the wrestling insider a few days ago. It also corroborates his report, which came just before the PLE, stating that The Ring General was dealing with an existing issue with his nose for some time.

He continued that it was clear from the finish to the match that the Austrian grappler was getting the surgery speed-tracked and that the whole injury angle was a work. Meltzer also added that The Ring General emerging with a crimson mask was also meticulously planned, and that the blood on Gunther’s face was artificial.

Meltzer concluded that the whole injury angle was a cover to give the 37-year-old wrestler time off to get done with the medical procedure as soon as possible:

I was told Gunther’s having surgery on his nose, I was told that a couple of days ago, and it’s very clear from watching the finish that Gunther’s having surgery on his nose pretty quick because they shot the angle where you know it’s like he busted his nose. So that busted nose thing, that was a 100% you know worked blood, and planned, I mean it was totally planned. So that was the cover for that.”

We at ITR Wrestling would like to wish The Ring General a speedy and safe recovery.
