The WWE Universe is buzzing right now as rumors increase on Britt Baker potentially jumping ship from AEW. The latest chapter in the story continues to develop, but now WWE sources have provided an update that many fans will see as unfortunate.
DMD Baker has been with Tony Khan since the start, but there has been heavy speculation on the AEW Original potentially leaving for World Wrestling Entertainment. Baker wrestled just five matches in 2024, and while she recently took time to film a movie, the 34-year-old has not returned to the ring since defeating Penelope Ford on November 13. Her All Elite run has been memorable, but the past few years were marred by injuries and backstage drama.
Baker went viral earlier today after sources reported that the one-time AEW Women’s World Champion is actively trying to part ways with Khan’s company. It was noted that the AEW President does not want to release Baker from her deal, and AEW is worried about WWE for two main reasons, but Britt is adamant.
WWE Reportedly Not Showing Interest In Britt Baker Right Now
Britt Baker is believed to be interested in pursuing a WWE career. Jonathan Coachman recently claimed the real-life dentist is close to signing with the largest wrestling company in the world, but his report was dismissed by some as Baker is still under contract to AEW.
Triple H and his team are not showing any interest in signing DMD Baker right now, according to WWE sources that spoke to Viper of PWN and Bodyslam.net. The winner of The 2022 Owen Hart Cup has not been mentioned in recent internal discussions on potential talent acquisitions, at least not yet, notes the report.
WWE may be playing the situation extra carefully as it was noted that the lack of internal Baker chatter could stem from officials being unable to confirm Baker’s actual contract status and availability. The report pointed to how what is not being said can often be just as telling as what is being said, and cautioned that timing is everything, especially in the Baker situation.
WWE did have interest in Baker a few years back, but she chose AEW. In January of this year, it was reported that WWE was “very interested” in Baker if she were available, but word then was that AEW had no intention of letting her go, but no creative plans either. The current level of interest remains to be seen.
