Another massive change is reportedly being made to WWE SmackDown after Raw leaves the USA Network.
In late 2023, it was reported that major changes were about to take place when it comes to WWE programming. Not only would SmackDown be moving back to the USA Network, NXT will be moving to the CW. Raw, meanwhile, is set to move to Netflix in January, marking the first time in history the red brand will not air on cable television.
Ahead of the show’s move to USA on the September 13th episode, reports emerged that changes were coming to the blue brand. SmackDown’s changes included a new logo and a new theme song, and on the night it was revealed that Neva Play by Megan Thee Stallion would be replacing the previous theme by def rebel.
What Changes Are In Store For WWE SmackDown?
While the show is currently a two hour program following its move to USA, a new report from WrestleVotes Radio indicates that’s likely to change when Raw makes its move to Netflix. The following was said on the program:
“Before we move off of SmackDown, our first real WrestleVotes tidbit here, as we get going on this backstage pass regarding SmackDown, is that we have learned that starting on the January 3 show 2025, Smackdown will indeed shift to three hours.
Continuing, there was a discussion about rumors that the show will be available on Netflix after being broadcast on USA. This change has not been confirmed.
The other big news here is there are rumors that once the show ends, it will be available on Netflix, which we haven’t heard elsewhere. Those are the internal talkings right now is that probably the day after Smackdown will be available on Netflix. But the real nugget here is that starting January 3, that show will be three hours.”
A recent report indicated that the blue brand is scheduled to remain on Fridays.
Also in the report, an interesting name came up in regards to facing John Cena in 2025.
