Renee Young is set to make her first WWE appearance since leaving the company in late August, it has been announced.
Young will be joined by Booker T to host a pre-show on FOX Sports for this Friday’s SmackDown which features the first night of the 2020 WWE Draft. The show will feature a number of WWE Superstars and special guests live from the WWE ThunderDome and will air half an hour before SmackDown. This is one of two WWE specials that FOX will be airing this week, alongside WWE: The Best Moments of 2020 which will air simultaneously with the channel’s coverage of NFL games this Sunday.
This marks Young’s first appearance within WWE in just over a month, last appearing in late August as a host of the SummerSlam Kick-Off show alongside Charly Caruso, Peter Rosenburg, JBL & Booker T. A few days prior, she had announced she would be leaving WWE after eight years stating that it was “time to roll the dice again and shake things up, time to light that fire again and forge on”.
This is not the first time Renee Young and Booker T have hosted a FOX-affiliated WWE show, with the two hosting WWE Backstage on Fox Sports 1 alongside frequent contributors like CM Punk, Christian & Ryan Satin from November 2019 to June 2020. In-studio filming of WWE Backstage was halted due to the escalation of the COVID-19 pandemic in March and the show was later cancelled in June in a wave of FS1 show cancellations.
We’ll be posting live coverage of the first night of the draft on SmackDown this Friday right here at Inside The Ropes.
