Rene Dupree Claims WWE Deliberately Fire Talent On Special Occasions

Rene Dupree has claimed that WWE deliberately release people on special occasions citing the departures of Charlie Haas and Billy Gunn.

Speaking in a recent interview, former WWE Superstar Rene Dupree recalled Charlie Haas and his wife Jackie Gayda being released by the company in 2005. At the time Haas had been with WWE since signing a developmental deal in 2000, while Gayda joined in 2002 after winning the second season of Tough Enough.

Following her departure from the company, Gayda would never return, while Haas re-signed in 2006 remaining with WWE until 2010.

When the couple were originally released in 2005, their exit came shortly after they had gotten married.

During an appearance on The Hannibal TV, Rene Dupree has now claimed WWE purposely release talents on special occasions. Dupree said that Haas and Gayda were fired when they returned from their honeymoon, while Billy Gunn was once released on his birthday.

“They got married, they went on their honeymoon… I guess they went to Antigua or one of those Caribbean countries. The day they got back, Johnny Ace [John Laurinaitis] calls them up, fires them both. Ain’t that some sh*t? They fired Billy Gunn on his birthday. I don’t know why they do that, but it’s not a coincidence. They purposely do that sh*t,”

Rene Goguen signed with WWE in 2002, where he was given the name Rene Dupree. The Canadian star made his main roster debut as part of La Resistance a little over a year later. Dupree won the Tag Team Titles alongside Sylvain Grenier just two months after debuting, before the team split in 2004.

Dupree remained with WWE until 2007 when he was released at his own request.

Meanwhile, Charlie Haas was back in the news very recently, appearing at the latest set of IMPACT Wrestling tapings. However, it was reported that the former WWE star was taken out of the arena on a stretcher.

While there is always the possibility that Haas’ injury is part of a storyline, one witness said that Charlie Haas appeared to crawl partially under the ring to gain some rest bite and appeared dazed.
