WWE have produced some incredible promotional video packages over the last 40 years, but Brock Lesnar delivering an F-5 to a shark might be one of the most surreal.
Heading into SummerSlam 2003 Brock Lesnar had his sights on reclaiming the WWE Championship. The Beast had claimed the gold from Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 19 in a match best remembered for his stunning botched Shooting Star Press. Lesnar held the title until Vengeance when he lost out in a Triple Threat Match involving Angle and The Big Show.
In a desperate bid to get his hands back on the title, Lesnar joined forced with Vince McMahon, turning heel again in the process. This set up another singles match between Lesnar and Angle. While fans might have thought that this match and the event as a whole didn’t need anymore hype they would be wrong. Step forward Jaws. Maybe. Actually, probably not.
Brock Lesnar Becomes A Lifeguard
In a promotional video for the event, the camera pans to a beach featuring the usual array of (purely coincidental) scantily clad, very attractive women, but the peace is soon shattered. Someone has spotted a shark in the water. But fear not, Brock Lesnar, in full wrestling gear for reasons known only to himself, is on hand. Do you really need wrestling boots and knee pads at the beach?
As everyone sprints away from the water, our fearless hero appears running in the opposite direction. The end result? Obviously Lesnar hits an F-5 on his ocean-based rival and stands tall.
Unfortunately for Lesnar, he was less successful a SummerSlam where he tapped out to Angle’s Ankle Lock. However, he won the WWE Championship for a third time on the September 18th edition of SmackDown, defeating Angle in an Iron-Man Match.
Elsewhere at SummerSlam, The Undertaker saw off A-Train, Shane McMahon beat Eric Bischoff and Triple H retained the World Heavyweight Championship inside the Elimination Chamber.
