A former WWE star had a surprising reaction to being released from the company.

On May 2nd, WWE released 17 stars across the main roster and NXT. The names let go included the likes of Braun Strowman, Shayna Baszler, and Dakota Kai.

Shotzi was included in the latest round of cuts, with the company deciding not to renew the former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion’s contract.

Reflecting on her release during a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, the star admitted to being surprised by her positive reaction to the news.

“Honestly, I didn’t expect this, but I just feel so free, and I just feel like this weight is lifted off me.”

“I feel clarity, and I just feel extremely motivated and excited for the future. I’m ready to get to work because I have just been sitting at home for what feels like the last two years.”

Shotzi found the experience of being left on the shelf “extremely frustrating,” saying it becomes “boring as hell.”

“It is extremely frustrating. When they’re utilizing you, it’s the best job in the world… but when you’re in the dark, and you’re pitching things, and it just feels like no one wants to talk to you… it’s mind-numbing and it’s confusing and it’s boring as hell.”

“I’m just excited to finally get to go out there and just kick ass on my terms, and I get to make my schedule. I’m not going to put myself in catering.”

Reason Behind Latest Wave Of WWE Cuts

It has been reported that WWE’s latest round of cuts was driven by internal assessments. For the main roster, it is thought that the company wanted to free up space for emerging talents, while on the NXT side, there were stars who weren’t seen to have the potential to progress on the main roster.

Also in the interview, the former WWE star detailed scrapped plans prior to her departure.
