One of WWE‘s recently released stars has teased his future outside the company.
On February 7th, news broke that WWE had released multiple stars from their contracts. The list included the likes of the Authors Of Pain, Paul Ellering, Isla Dawn, and Cedric Alexander, while Sonya Deville was informed her contract would not be renewed.
Ellering and the Authors of Pain were prominent on TV in 2024 as part of The Final Testament alongside Karrion Kross and Scarlett. The group even handed The Wyatt Sicks their first loss when Ellering threw powder in Uncle Howdy’s face, allowing Kross to pick up the win. However, since that match, the AOP has only competed on TV once, defeating the LWO on Main Event at the end of December.
This is the second time the AOP has been let go from the company, having previously been released in 2020 after a four-year run. The team was re-signed in 2022, but their return to TV was repeatedly delayed until they finally re-appeared in January 2024.
Now, Ellering has posted a cryptic statement on social media, hinting that he and AOP are not done with professional wrestling.
“@WWEYesterday, the clouds covered the bright sun.
Today, the sun shines on a clear and robust future.
#AOP. The most Precious One.
#MEGA”

WWE Star Says “Good Riddance” To Isla Dawn
Following her release, Lyra Valkyeria joked that WWE was “finally free” of Isla Dawn. She went on to say that Dawn is “indestructible” and she doesn’t think the Scottish star will stop now. In fact, Dawn has already made her intentions to continue wrestling clear and will be available in 90 days after her no-compete clause runs out.
