A recently released WWE star has announced an indefinite break from wrestling.

Earlier this year, on May 2, before SmackDown, 17 WWE talents were released. Amongst the released stars were several former champions and some top stars, including Braun Strowman, Dakota Kai, Shayna Baszler, Kayden Carter, Katana Chance, Cora Jade, among others.

Following her exit from the promotion, Cora Jade (now Elayna Black) started making independent wrestling appearances while also building a strong online presence. However, earlier today, sharing an update on Instagram, she announced an indefinite break from the sport owing to her current mental health:

I’ll keep it short but I am going to be taking a break from wrestling for the forseeable future. It’s no longer good for my mental health and I’ll never know if that love for it I once had will return if I don’t step away. I’m gonna take the rest of the year to take care of me and go from there. I apologize to all the fans and promoters who were looking forward to/booked my upcoming appearances. I hope you can understand. To my supporters, Thank you.”

This soon attracted a response from her close friend and mentor, CM Punk. Leaving a heartfelt comment on her post, The Second City Saint wrote:

Hard step to take, proud of you for taking it. I got your back.”

Punk, the former Cora Jade, and Roxanne Perez shared a close bond during their time together in the Stamford-based promotion, especially during Jade and Perez’s NXT run. It is still unclear what she has planned next in her career; meanwhile, Punk is scheduled to face Gunther at SummerSlam 2025.

WWE Star CM Punk Gets Honest About His Acting Career

Recently, while speaking to TV Insider,CM Punk opened up on his upcoming role in the television series, Revival, and also shared an honest confession about his acting career:

The pandemic really changed the way everything is done. I still have yet to do a live read. I’ve never done a live audition. Everything is where I record it, there is a Zoom meeting and I send it out in the ether. It’s a frustrating part of my job because I don’t get feedback. I can’t ask questions like, ‘Should I do this differently or better?’

A lot of the jobs I’ve gotten are based on people I already know. The good relationships I already have. The Revival thing was in the works for a very long time.’

I say no to a lot of stuff too, because I don’t want to be pigeon-holed. I take roles I find interesting that I can also fit into my schedule. I’m not trying to peace out for six months and disappear off WWE television unless it’s the right role. So far everything has been pretty fluid and smooth and has worked.”
