A new report has hinted that AEW’s highly anticipated video game could be released sooner than originally thought.
An AEW console video game is reportedly been in the works ever since the company came into being three years ago. Furthermore, Yukes, who previously worked on a number of WWE games, are working as the developers on the project.
While details on the game’s release have remained thin on the ground, a new report has suggested that fans might be able to get their hands on the game much sooner than previously thought.
The report from Fightful Select notes that the game has a tentative internal release date of late September. Although there is said to be plenty of work to be done, a September release is the target. With regard to the game itself, it will include a story mode, and there was a deadline for music to be involved.
It was this which first suggested that the game might by coming earlier than expected, with one AEW talent believing they might have signed too late to be included. In closing, the report adds that there is a publisher involved, although nothing has been officially announced.
Kenny Omega has been a long-time advocate of the game, and has previously expressed his desire for the game to be a success.
Back in the ring, Kenny Omega recently made his first appearance on AEW television since early November, on the Dynamite following Full Gear.
It was recently reported that Omega is currently recovering from numerous surgeries, after taking time off to deal issues including a torn labrum in his shoulder, a hernia and problems with his knees. The star himself also revealed that he had been struggling with vertigo since 2018.
There is said to be “no time frame” regarding his in-ring return.
The official AEW video game is scheduled to be released on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
