AEW and ROH are days away from a big weekend in Texas, but Red Velvet is dealing with an unfortunate event in her own life. After developments were revealed earlier this week, the history-making champion is fueling support with her post-announcement statement.
Tony Khan revealed that several AEW and ROH stars are injured, specifically women’s division competitors, and that has forced changes across storylines for both companies. The reigning ROH Women’s World Television Champion suffered multiple injuries in Mexico last month, and now an interim champion will be crowned at Supercard of Honor on Friday night. The injuries also forced a delay in the tournament to crown the inaugural ROH Women’s Pure Champion.
The Secret Ingredient is expected to be out of action for a few weeks, but worst case, she’d be on the shelf for a few months. The 33-year-old remains optimistic, and while participants for Friday’s match have not been announced, Velvet has issued a warning to the new interim champion.
Red Velvet Issues Warning To New ROH Interim Women’s World TV Champion
Tony Khan was set to announce a challenger for Red Velvet and her ROH Women’s World Television Championship at Supercard of Honor XVIII on Friday night. Instead, the AEW-ROH boss announced that the Miami native suffered multiple injuries in Mexico last month.
Velvet took to X to address the injury, and to send a bold message to whoever becomes the interim champion in Arlington this weekend.
“Not the news I wanted to share. I won’t be cleared to compete at Supercard of Honor due to injury. Don’t get it twisted this is just a pause, not the end. To the new Interim ROH Women’s TV Champ congrats in advance. Hold it down, because when I come back? I’m coming for it ALL,” Red Velvet wrote.

Velvet last defended her title at the April 16 ROH TV tapings, where she retained over La Catalina. She then defeated Laynie Luck and Harleen Lopez in two Proving Ground matches before going to Mexico for the three matches with CMLL.
