AEW star enjoys a warm retirement moment.
Losing to Adam Page on the Collision Maximum Carnage episode last week, AEW original and wrestling veteran Christopher Daniels announced his retirement. On the 22nd January edition of Dynamite, Daniels appeared in a neck brace, and announced his bout against Page as his final match, indirectly confirming his retirement from the sport.
However, while retirements are often perceived as sad and cold, Daniels received a heartwarming gesture from his family. Sharing a short status on X(Twitter) about his retirement, Daniels made his way toward home.
“I’m sad that it’s over. But so very happy that it happened. Thank you all!”
However, soon after landing, he was welcomed with a warm surprise, acknowledging his contributions to the industry. Sharing the images on X(Twitter), the former EVP wrote:
Came home from the airport today to this lovely display from my family.”
Decorating the house with pictures of iconic moments from his career, merchandise, wine, and a note, Daniels’ family reminded him of his legendary career.
Former bitter rival, AJ Styles also responded to the post on X(Twitter), and called him out as a true legend. Daniels acted as the promotions EVP during Kenny Omega’s absence but gave up his position once The Cleaner returned.
At 54-years-old, the wrestling veteran has finally hung up his boots.
Former AEW Champion Sting Has Shared A Major Career Update
Wrestling his final match against The Young Bucks earlier last year at the Revolution 2024 PPV, Hall of Famer Sting has shared a major update on his career. In a social media post on X(Twitter), he revealed 2025 to be his final year in his full gear.
“I have enjoyed meeting fans at events around the world. As much as I have loved interacting with you all in the traditional Stinger war paint, I’ve decided that 2025 will be my last year appearing in full gear. I guess it’s 2025 or never. Wow. Tough to speak that out.”
