Recent WWE Booking Coincidence “Not An Accident”

WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H

On April 7th, Triple H announced the return of the WWE Draft for the first time since October 2021.

It was confirmed a week later the draft will begin on the April 28th episode of SmackDown and conclude on the May 1st edition of Raw. While nothing has been formally announced, the new rosters will presumably take their positions from May 8th, the first episode of Raw following Backlash.

Fans were quick to notice that the WWE Draft coincides with the NFL Draft which begins on April 27th and wraps up on April 29th.

A new report from Fightful Select has claimed that this is not an accident on WWE’s part.

The first-ever WWE Draft took place in March 2002, and the brand split remained in place until August 2011 when it was scrapped. However, it was brought back in 2016 and has stayed intact ever since.

Every draft since 2016, aside from 2017 has also featured NXT. While stars aren’t drafted to the developmental brand, they are often moved up to the main roster.

Two Matches Confirmed For WWE Backlash

On May 6th, WWE is returning to Puerto Rico for the first time since 2005. Backlash will be held at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot and hosted by Bad Bunny. As of April 18th, only two matches have been announced for the event, but they’re two huge match-ups.

Cody Rhodes is set to take on Brock Lesnar, while Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and Matt Riddle will team up to take on The Usos and Solo Sikoa. The Usos and Owens & Zayn are set to meet in a huge WrestleMania rematch for the Undisputed Tag Team Titles on April 28th.
