AEW fans are no strangers to looking for clues about the backstage workings of the company when watching the YouTube series Being the Elite, the long-running series chronicling The Young Bucks’ journey in professional wrestling.
During the latest episode, Matt and Nick Jackson sparked fan speculation when they cryptically referred to being under great stress ahead of the final match in their Best of Seven series against Death Triangle. Speaking outside of the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, the brothers had this to say:
Matt: Ladder match, Escalera de la Muerte dos tonight. I am not in the mood for a ladder match.
Nick: It’s freezing.
Matt: It’s cold, my body hurts because of the cold, I’m getting older.
Nick: We went through a lot of stress that no one has a clue about in the last week. So much stress.
Matt: So much stress that we can’t even talk about here, maybe one day in our second book that I won’t write ever because it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life.
Nick: But we got some relief last night, and now hopefully things go right.
The ladder match in question saw The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega victorious, winning not only the series against Death Triangle with four match victories, but also capturing the AEW Trios Championship for a second time after being stripped of the title due to their involvement in the brawl that took place after All Out in September.
A Visa Issue Nearly Stopped The AEW Dynamite Ladder Match From Happening
The Escalera de la Muerte match on Dynamite was highly anticipated, culminating the series of matches that had been going on since The Elite returned from suspension at Full Gear. While many fans assumed The Young Bucks were alluding to the stress surrounding their fractured relationship with CM Punk and suspension following the aftermath of All Out, Bryan Alvarez cleared up speculation with a report that the final match in the Best of Seven Series nearly couldn’t take place due to a visa issue.
“Before it erupts into craziness, the stress last week prior to the final Death Triangle vs. Elite match was a visa issue that almost prevented the match from happening.”

It was not clarified which member of Death Triangle was facing a visa issue, but Inside the Ropes will continue to report as more information becomes available.
