Reason For Carlito’s Legends Night Absence Revealed

When WWE announced that the January 4th edition of RAW would be a ‘Legends Night’, several names were advertised as being scheduled to appear.

One of the superstars mentioned was Carlito Caribbean Cool, the former United States champion, who had competed for WWE between 2004 and 2010.

However as viewers will have seen, the son of the legendary Puerto Rican grappler Carlos Colon Sr. was not featured on Monday’s episode.

Respected wrestling journalist Mike Johnson of PWInsiderElite.com has since noted the following on Carlito’s absence:

I was told Carlito found out he was just getting a cameo, and said ‘Hey, but thanks, when you want me to come wrestle or do something, I’m happy to do it. I don’t want to travel across the country, just to do a 2 minute cameo.

The man who would famously ‘spit in the face of people who don’t want to be cool’, seemingly reacted to the show on Twitter, with the following gif:

For those wondering why WWE would advertise a wrestler without them being fully committed to appearing, Nick Hausman of WrestlingInc.com had the following insight:

WWE sent feelers out to a variety of talents, including Carlito, and someone internally in WWE apparently simply jumped the gun announcing his appearance.

The news follows our previous report on former Women’s Champion Candice Michelle, whom also missed out on the show.

The 41 year old Carlito is still active on the US independent scene, wrestling a handful of matches in 2020 prior to the global pandemic and subsequent lockdowns.

In addition to the US Championship, Carlito also held the WWE Intercontinental and WWE RAW Tag Team Championships (with Primo Colon) during his WWE tenure.
