A new report has claimed that the ongoing situation between Britt Baker and AEW may not be as extreme as first claimed.
Baker has been absent from the ring since November 2024, leading fans to speculate as to why the former Women’s Champion has been off TV for so long. On January 20th, news broke that the reason why Britt Baker has been away is that Tony Khan became “fed up” with her and was not expected to be back on AEW TV.
Providing an update on the reported issues concerning Baker and the company later in the day, Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnlinestated that while the former Women’s Champion is not being used, there have been no updates on her being done in the promotion:
From talking to multiple people within AEW, the Britt Baker stories all over the Internet today appear to be blown way out of proportion. She’s not being used and there don’t appear to be any imminent plans, but there’s nothing to her being finished with the company.
Britt Baker Contracted To All Elite Wrestling “For Quite A While”
Providing more information on Wrestling Observer Radio, Alvarez noted that although Baker is “Polarising”, he has not heard anything concerning the former Women’s Champion not returning to TV and added that there is still a significant amount of time left on her contract:
“Obviously, Britt Baker is polarising, some people don’t like Britt. The idea that nobody in the locker room likes Britt is not true, I talked to a lot of people today. At the end of the day, she’s not being used right now, most people don’t know why and ultimately it’s Tony’s decision if she’s going to be used or not.
Nobody I talked to – and it’s a lot of people that talk to Tony – nobody said she’s not coming back. It’s not like she’s never going to be used again, her contract goes for quite a while, it’s just she’s not being used right now and that’s what the story is.”
