Becky Lynch has been absent from WWE since May 2020 due to her pregnancy but plans were seemingly in place for her to make a grand return at WrestleMania 37, with the reason why that didn’t happen the subject of a new report.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer had previously reported that Lynch was set to return at WrestleMania 37 as part of a ‘Ding Dong Hello!’ segment with Bayley. The report also stated that Becky Lynch could return by driving a big truck into the Raymond James Stadium. In the end, Lynch didn’t make an appearance, Bayley was used in segments backstage or involving the WrestleMania hosts, and the big truck did get its outing on The Grandest Stage Of Them All as rap superstar Bad Bunny arrived atop one for his tag team match with Damian Priest against The Miz and John Morrison.
Now Dave Meltzer has reported in his most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter the supposed reason Becky Lynch didn’t make her return at the event.
According to Meltzer:
“They were waiting for her to sign a new deal, which is now in effect, and because they felt it was too early to debut her before she would be back wrestling.”
Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins welcomed their daughter Roux into the world in December 2020. In recent days, the pair have revealed on social media that they have finally wed after their original wedding was postponed due to the pandemic.
In Lynch’s last appearance on WWE TV before her hiatus, she forfeited the Raw Women’s Championship that she originally won in the main event of WrestleMania 35. She announced she would be absent due to pregnancy and awarded her title to Asuka who had won the women’s Money In The Bank briefcase the night before.
