The reason behind Drew McIntyre’s absence from recent live events has been revealed.
Drew McIntyre was scheduled to compete at the WWE live events over the weekend in California. However, WWE gave The Scottish Warrior time off to recover from an undisclosed injury or illness.
According to PWInsider, McIntyre was battling a bad case of food poisoning before the September 23rd edition of SmackDown. The report noted that he got through SmackDown’s taping with the help of IV treatment. The Scottish Warrior was involved in a segment where Scarlett attempted to shoot a fireball at his face but missed.
PWInsider notes that McIntyre is feeling better and should be ready to go for the upcoming episode of the blue brand. The former World Champion has taken many falls in his career, with the Hell in a Cell against Randy Orton being named his worst. Despite facing numerous setbacks, The Scottish Warrior always managed to pick himself back up.
He may face another setback at Extreme Rules when he faces Karrion Kross in a strap match. The challenge comes after McIntyre lost his WWE Undisputed Universal Championship match at Clash at the Castle earlier this month. We’ll have to wait and see if he’s able to rebound following the devastating loss to Roman Reigns.
