Brock Lesnar is back in WWE, albeit slightly later than first thought.
Ahead of Money In The Bank, it was reported that The Beast would be returning in London, England to restart his feud with Cody Rhodes. However, the star missed the event and instead strolled out to wreak havoc on the July 3rd episode of Raw.
In a follow-up report, WRKD Wrestling explained that plans changed for Lesnar when it became clear that Drew McIntyre and John Cena would also be returning in the UK. This led to those backstage feeling his comeback wouldn’t have the same impact, so it was held off until July 3rd.
“Plans had changed before Money In The Bank, with McIntyre and Cena returning, the thought process was that Brock’s return would be diminished after multiple other surprises in the evening. Brock has instead returned on #WWERaw.”
Brock Lesnar And Cody Rhodes Just Can’t Quit Each Other
On Raw, Seth Rollins opened the show in typically flamboyant fashion before being joined by Cody Rhodes. However, just as the American Nightmare began to speak he was interrupted by Brock Lesnar’s music.
Not content to wait and see what The Beast wanted, Rhodes charged up the ramp and threw himself at his rival, with the brawl coming all the way back to the ring. Rhodes managed to escape an F-5 and hit a Cody Cutter which left Lesnar scrambling to the outside.
Later in the show, Rhodes said in an interview that he was prepared to fight Lesnar on any day and every day if he needed to.
