Real Reason For Drew McIntyre's WWE Absence

Triple H has shed some light on the reports and speculation surrounding Drew McIntyre.

The Scottish Psychopath made his long-awaited return on the December 2nd episode of Raw, attacking Sami Zayn following the main event of the show. McIntyre had been absent from TV for the best part of 2 months following on from his brutal Hell in a Cell match against CM Punk at Bad Blood.

With McIntyre suffering a massive head wound after being struck by a toolbox in the bout, it was reported that the former WWE Champion required 16 staples after the match to close up the cut. Due to the violent nature of the Hell in a Cell match, some had speculated that McIntyre’s time away was to recover from injury. However, in a new interview, Triple H has set the record straight.

Speaking at a media event at Netflix HQ, the Chief Content Officer stated that McIntyre was desperate to return and was not dealing with any injuries. Triple H also added that McIntyre was absent as he was taking some time away, which could be a common theme with the rosters to keep things fresh moving forward:

“He was dying to come back. He wasn’t hurt, he wasn’t injured. Let’s just give you a little breather here for a second. And whether that’s spending some time at home enjoying your family, whatever that is, or whether that’s, hey, I have this other project I wanna work on. I have this project that Netflix has come up with, I’m gonna work on that. Whatever. Us having that ability to morph and shift things around and keep things fresh, I think is a tremendous opportunity for us. So, I’d look for more of that too.”

Drew McIntyre Brought Back Early

Although McIntyre was absent for 2 months, the former World Champion was due to be away from TV for a few more weeks. According to a recent report, the reason for Drew McIntyre’s early return has been revealed.
