Real Reason Behind The Young Bucks’ AEW All In Loss Revealed

The Young Bucks at AEW Grand Slam: Mexico

The Young Bucks are longer All Elite Wrestling EVPs.

Last week at the July 12 edition of All In, The Young Bucks were involved in arguably one of the best tag-team matches of all-time against the newly formed team of Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland.

After displaying an almost half-hour-long classic, Matt and Nick Jackson failed to defeat Ospreay and Strickland and eventually lost their EVP status. Now, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has revealed the actual reason behind the move.

Meltzer noted that the match was put forward as a way to end Matt and Nick Jackson’s on-screen status as the EVPs. Meltzer’s sources indicated that the Jackson brothers’ role as on-screen authority figures had “run its course”, and their focus should now shift to their skills as a “great tag-team.” It was also further reported by Meltzer that The Young Bucks “were pretty adamant” about losing to Ospreay and Strickland.

The Young Bucks were reportedly ‘pretty adamant’ about losing their match with Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay at All In Texas, with the feeling being that their EVP on-screen authority figure characters had ‘run its course.’

With Tony Khan having the final decision in creative control, Meltzer noted that it was ultimately Khan’s decision.

Following their All In 2025 loss, the former World Tag Team Champions teamed with The Don Callis Family (Hechicero & Josh Alexander) to defeat Bandido, Brody King & JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & Mike Bailey) on the July 16 episode of Dynamite.

TNA Veteran Expects The Young Bucks To Have A WrestleMania Moment Like Cody Rhodes

A few years ago at WrestleMania 38, Cody Rhodes made his long-awaited WWE return.

Recently, in the latest edition of D’Amore Drop, former TNA President Scott D’Amore opened up on the chances of The Young Bucks receiving a similar WrestleMania moment like Cody Rhodes:

It’s no secret WWE wanted The Bucks badly before they helped form AEW — and I can see Matt and Nick, not tomorrow, but at some point — maybe deciding it is time to go have a WrestleMania moment like fellow AEW founder Cody Rhodes did.”
