Randy Savage is said to have not gotten along with a WWE Hall of Famer.
Savage’s brother, Lanny Poffo – who sadly passed away earlier this year – revealed that The Macho Man and Andre The Giant had issues during his last podcast appearance on ‘Cafe de Rene with Renee Dupree’.
According to The Genius, it all came down to Savage’s use of baby oil, which Andre wasn’t a fan of.
“Randy and Andre didn’t get along at all.”
“The reason was, [imitating Andre] ‘Baby oil’ … Randy’s answer was, ‘Yeah, your gimmick is being a giant. My gimmick is baby oil’.
While Lanny suggested Savage could just make an exception for Andre to make things easier, he refused point blank.
“And, you know, it could be easy or hard with Andre and wouldn’t it be great if it was just easy? I told Randy, ‘Why don’t you just make an exception for Andre and not use baby oil in his matches,’ and they would get along so much easier and better. And Randy says — well I’m not going to say any bad words, but — ‘Blank you.'”
Despite their issues, the two did have multiple matches in 1988, including a huge Tag Team Match at SummerSlam. Whether or not Savage toned down the amount of baby oil he used is unknown.
The Undertaker regrets not having wrestled Andre The Giant in WWE
While Savage was able to have several matches with Andre, one other legend was not so lucky.
The Undertaker recently revealed that one of his biggest regrets is not having been able to work with the iconic star despite The Giant having had a plan for the two of them.
“Oh, my gosh, he’ll. So you know, Andre didn’t like big guys, for most part and for some reason, he loved me. When I came in, he was he was right there at the end and he was working just a little bit, his knees and his back were really, really bad.
But he had always had this idea, I’d come into the dressing room I say, “Hey, Boss, how you doing today” and he would say “oh, good. kid, one day, me and you we make big money.” I was like really boss? He goes, “Yeah, I’ve got a good idea”. I said, “Oh, well, let me hear about it.” “No, no, no,” he was so old school like he would never tell me.”
