It was back on May 22nd 2022 that fans last saw Randy Orton on their screens, with ‘The Viper’ and Matt Riddle losing their WWE Raw Tag Team Championship to The Usos on an episode of WWE SmackDown.
At that stage the popularity of the team was such that a rematch with the members of The Bloodline seemed inevitable, together with a potential Orton vs Riddle match up that would not have been out of place at SummerSlam or even WrestleMania 39.
Unfortunately, however, that was to be the last appearance to date for the former Evolution stalwart with a serious back injury and subsequent surgery side lining the 14 time World Champion ever since.
One WWE Hall Of Famer who knows Orton better than anybody recently revealed that medical personnel has recommended that ‘The Apex Predator’ doesn’t return to the ring at all.
Randy Orton’s Doctors Do Not Recommend In-Ring Return
Speaking in a recent interview with legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter, WWE Hall Of Famer ‘Cowboy’ Bob Orton sensationally revealed that Randy Orton’s doctors had recommended that the two-time Royal Rumble winner did not return to the ring. Orton Senior, however, believes his son will not take that advice on board:
“He’s training, so we’ll see what happens; I don’t know. If he feels like he’s ready to go back, I think he might, but again he’s pretty well taken care of. I don’t think he need [sic] to. And I think the doctors have told him not to. But Randy will do what Randy wants to do.”
With the recent decision to introduce a new WWE World Heavyweight Championship to the mix, the company will be keen for as many of it’s top stars as possible to be in action as evidenced with the recent return of AJ Styles.
The Phenomenal One will take on Seth Rollins at Night Of Champions in a battle to lift the new title and any imminent Orton return would potentially add intrigue to the Championship picture.
