Randy Orton Reportedly Taking Time Away From WWE

Randy Orton

After not appearing on the latest edition of Monday Night Raw, it has been reported that Randy Orton is taking a break from WWE programming.

On the January 31st episode of Monday Night Raw, team RK-Bro was represented solely by Riddle. The Original Bro was featured throughout the show, first taking on Chad Gable in a scooter race in order to try and earn a shot at the Raw Tag Team Titles.

Riddle along with Randy Orton had taken on Gable and Otis in a spelling bee the week before.

As the race reached it’s finale Riddle was attacked by Otis setting up a match between the pair which was won by the former UFC star. In doing so, he earned himself a spot in the upcoming Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship.

However, despite attempting to secure a victory for his team in the scooter race, Riddle’s partner was missing.

Speaking on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez noted that Orton will continue to be absent for a “little while.” At time of writing there are no details on why The Viper won’t be appearing.

The news comes after it was reported that Orton and Riddle may soon be going their separate ways.

The rumours of the on-screen demise of RK-Bro have stretched all of the way to the summer of 2021, while a new report has claimed that the pair could be heading for a showdown at WrestleMania 38. Not only that, the match could involve the WWE Championship.

The report from Wrestle Votes noted that the match was first planned for SummerSlam, and then pushed back to WrestleMania. Although now only “a handful” of creative team members want the team to split.

Back in April 2021 on Raw, Riddle and Randy Orton became the most unlikely of unlikely tag teams. The pair joined forces at the behest of Riddle, while Orton went along with the plan often wearing an exasperated look, normally reserved for a beleaguered parent.

Despite the rocky start outside of the ring, once the bell rang the two stars kept winning, rising up the tag team ranks. This eventually saw RK-Bro crowned Raw Tag Team Champions at SummerSlam.

Although the pair lost the titles to Alpha Academy on January 10th, they have remained together, seemingly stronger than ever as they try to reclaim the gold.
