Former Raw Tag Team Champion Randy Orton has discussed the chances of him taking part in the 2022 men’s Royal Rumble and thinks it will “probably” happen.
Should Orton make compete at the 2022 Royal Rumble event, it will mark his 18th appearance at WWE’s January spectacular. However, with the third-generation star and Riddle recently losing the Raw Tag Team Title, and neither man yet officially a part of the men’s Rumble match, Orton’s status for the event is still officially up in the air.
Speaking to FOX2 Now Randy Orton discussed how important it is for him to be a part of the Rumble as it will emanate from his hometown of St. Louis:
“I will probably end up being in the Royal Rumble itself. That’s not official yet. I’m going to do my best to hang on for dear life and win the Royal Rumble in my hometown.”
Should Randy Orton enter the men’s Rumble match and outlast 29 other WWE Superstars once again, it will put The Viper in rarefied air after his previous successes in 2009 and 2017:
“That would be the third time that I won the event. Which would put me and Stone Cold Steve Austin as the only two WWE performers to ever win that event three times.”
Currently, only half the field for the men’s Royal Rumble match have been announced. With 15 spots still available it’s looking likely that Randy Orton will have his sights set on history and another main event at WrestleMania.
