Randy Orton was reportedly “rolling on the floor laughing” at a late mix-up during the 2022 men’s Royal Rumble match.
On February 5th it was reported that there had been a late mix-up around entry numbers during the men’s Royal Rumble match. This confusion was said to have stemmed from a late switch in the running order.
Prior to the late switch Randy Orton was due to enter at number 28, with Shane McMahon coming in at 29, however, the positions were reversed. As McMahon’s music hit, Orton sent a “verbal cue” to Shane O’Mac that he wouldn’t be going out to his music.
It has now emerged that the situation was maybe a little more light-hearted than first thought. A new report from Fightful Select has noted that Orton burst out laughing at the error.
“he fell on the ground laughing at the situation — literally rolling on the floor, laughing his ass off. Fortunately Orton was able to compose himself pretty well,”
Orton’s reaction was said to be in good fun following what had been a very hectic day.
Shane McMahon only returned to WWE at the 2022 Royal Rumble, but amid speculation about backstage heat and confrontations with both Vince McMahon and Brock Lesnar, he was gone less than a week later. Furthermore, it was revealed ahead of his exit that he was scheduled to perform at Elimination Chamber and then WrestleMania 38.
McMahon was reportedly planned to be part of the WWE Title Elimination Chamber match, which would have set up a match with Seth Rollins at WrestleMania.
It has now been reported that with McMahon no longer with the company, WWE are searching for a “major attraction” to replace his match on the WrestleMania 38 card. The report from Wrestle Votes, adds that the card for WrestleMania 38 is in “complete flux.”
