Queen of the Ring Finals Reportedly Set For Saudi Arabia

Queen Of The Ring

The heavily anticipated Queen Of The Ring tournament held by WWE could see its finals take place when the company returns to Saudi Arabia.

Wrestling Inc. first reported that the tentative plan is for the tournament to be a main roster show airing on Peacock. The report comes after it was suggested back in June that the original King Of The Ring could be in line for a return in late 2021 or early 2022.

Interestingly, Sasha Banks discussed the idea of a Queen Of The Ring in December, pitching the tournament as a standalone pay-per-view which would act as a follow-up to the Evolution PPV from 2018.

WWE Evolution was held on October 28th, 2018, and currently stands as WWE’s first and only all-women’s pay-per-view. The show featured Superstars from across all of WWE’s major brands and was headlined by the showdown between Ronda Rousey and Nikki Bella.

Now Andrew Zarian of The Mat Men podcast has reported that the finals of the tournament could be set to take place in an interesting location. Zarian has reported that the finals of the tournament could be held when the company returns to Saudi Arabia. A recent report has suggested the company’s return to the Middle East could take place as soon as October.

If this pans out, it would mark a seismic shift in how women’s wrestling is seen in Saudi Arabia. On the very first supershows WWE produced in the Kingdom, no female competitors were allowed on them. That changed at Crown Jewel in 2019 when Lacey Evans and Natalya became the first female wrestlers to compete on a WWE show in the country.
