Big Damo may no longer be in the WWE, but he’s still in the world of wrestling winning championships. This past Sunday at PROGRESS Wrestling’s Chapter 142 in Birmingham, England, Damo won the Atlas Championship after taking out Luke Jacobs.
After his title victory, Big Damo said:
“I’m feeling battered and bruised. However, I am now Atlas Champion. Luke Jacobs is an incredible athlete, and he is only 22. When I was 22, I was miles away from where I am now, and that is more than 15 years ago. He has got the world at his feet and when he is my age, he could be a WWE Hall of Famer, he is that good. He made a fatal mistake. I capitalized on that and got the W.”
In April 2022, Damo made a return to PROGRESS, where his first match was also against Jacobs, and also for Atlas Championship implications. In that first round match of the Atlas Title tournament, Damo would lose to Jacobs. The young wrestler would eventually win the tournament and the gold, holding the belt until The Beast of Belfast took it from him on Sunday.
Big Damo defends his Atlas Championship for the first time against Shigehiro Irie on Tuesday.
