WWE producer Sonjay Dutt has reportedly left the company.
Sonjay Dutt joined WWE in 2019, taking up the role as a producer which effectively brought an end to his own-ring career. The Washington native hasn’t competed inside the ring since 2017 tearing his Achilles while he was with IMPACT Wrestling.
According to a report by Fightful Select, it was Dutt’s decision to leave, although Fightful note that they are working to confirm this.
Interestingly, the report also states that there are potentially more backstage changes on the way.
“We’re told to keep expecting changes within WWE, including some potentially big ones in the coming days and weeks backstage.”
WWE has made significant changes both on-screen and behind the scenes in 2021. While there have been multiple rounds of talent cuts which have seen the likes of Mickie James, Braun Strowman and Aleister Black leave the company, there has also been significant restructuring backstage.
In May it was revealed that multiple departments had been merged, resulting in numerous staff losing their jobs.
During the interview, Mobley said that she wasn’t required to have any prior knowledge of WWE ahead of getting her job, while she got WWE Champion Bobby Lashley’s name wrong during the interview.
It was noted that WWE “actively discourages” writers from making such appearances, and that some within the company felt disrespected by her comments.
