It has been confirmed that one of the most prestigious titles in all of professional wrestling will be on the line at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

With the super-show just days away, the first ever co-promoted card between AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling is almost finalised.

While it had already been confirmed that a new AEW Interim World Champion would be crowned at the event, the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship will also be on the line.

In a press release regarding the show which was sent out on June 21st, champion Jay White was listed for match, but his opponent was “TBD.”

On the June 15th edition of AEW Dynamite, Hangman Adam Page came to the ring to address his challenge to Kazuchika Okada who had been IWGP World Heavyweight Champion at the time. However, Okada had since been dethroned by Jay White.

With Page still determined to get a title shot, he was confronted by Adam Cole who took great delight in White’s recent win. As the two went back and forth, White came out an attacked Page to leave him laying. The Switchblade then claimed that his newly won title would be on the line at Forbidden Door, but neither Page or Cole would be his first challenger.
