Jim Ross Admits Announcing Career Nearing End

In some great news today, it has been reported that Jim Ross’s surgery was a success.

Ross, who had been diagnosed with colon cancer, was scheduled for surgery today. The AEW announcer addressed the fans on his social media moments before the procedure, saying,

“Checked in and ready to kick this cancer out on its a**!”

Conrad Thompson took to X (FKA Twitter) to share a much-needed and timely update. As reported by Thompson, the surgery was successful, and JR is now on the road to recovery. The current hope is that the cancer has been removed completely after JR went under the knife again earlier this morning:

Fans from across the world shared their well-wishes and prayers for The Voice of Wrestling, who is beloved across the industry. Notable wrestlers such as Nic Nemeth, Rob Van Dam, and Matt Cardona also tweeted support for the WWE Hall of Famer.

Fans showed an outpouring of support and love for the AEW announcer, with one fan saying, “YES Jim! Rest up and come back stronger, my man”. Another fan said, “Fantastic news, here’s to a steady recovery for the voice of wrestling. A fan wishing for his comeback said, “Fire up that comeback! @JRsBBQ”. Many are hopeful of a return as JR, in the past, had battled and successfully beaten skin cancer.

Earlier, the legendary announcer had indicated that he had no plans of quitting and wanted to work towards elevating new talent, noting there was a possibility of him showing up at AEW’s All In Event in July.
