Positive Update On Jerry Lawler Following Stroke

Earlier today, it was reported that WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler was rushed to the hospital after suffering a medical emergency on February 6th.

The report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider noted that Lawler had been out to lunch with friends earlier in the day, and sometime after that suffered a medical episode and was rushed to the hospital. News began circulating after fellow WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Morton wished Lawler well on social media.

A further report from Memphis, TN’s Action News 5 provides more information about the situation, noting that Lawler, 73, suffered a stroke in his home and underwent emergency surgery yesterday. He is currently recovering in the hospital, and Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported that he was awake but his condition remained “very serious.”

According to F4WOnline, Lawler was found face down outside his home in Florida and rushed to the hospital. His son Kevin is in contact with WWE and is flying to Florida to be with his father.

Dutch Mantell Provides Good News About Jerry Lawler’s Condition

Now, longtime friend Dutch Mantell has taken to social media to provide an update on Lawler’s condition, confirming the news that he’d suffered stroke and underwent surgery. The latest update is a positive one, as his condition has improved and he is expected to recover.

UPDATE ON JERRY LAWLER: It has been confirmed that Jerry LAWLER suffered a stroke last night in Ft. Myers, Florida. He was rushed to a local hospital where he underwent a medical procedure. His latest condition is actually good and he is expected to recover. Good news.”

When a fan pointed out that reports had seemed sobering earlier in the day, Mantell confirmed that Lawler had lost feeling on his right side but had since regained it. He also noted that physicians also expect his affected speech to return.

“His feeling on his right side has returned and is improving. His speech is still affected but the Dr. expects that to return as well.”

Jerry Lawler was last seen on WWE programming as part of the Royal Rumble Kickoff Show on January 28th. Prior to that, he participated in the 30th anniversary celebration of Monday Night Raw on January 23rd, where he briefly joined the commentary team as a guest.
